Yelp! is such a staple in major cities in the states that I was pretty bummed when I moved and realized it wouldn’t accept UK addresses.  Basically, it’s a review site.  You tell it about places you’ve been and what you liked or disliked about them.   

But where Yelp! really becomes useful is when you need something like a new hair stylist or someone to do some custom cabinets for in your house, and you can suddenly see all the choices in your area and what people honestly thought of their services.  They include maps and contact info, too.
