For the yankees reading who don’t really get it, the BNP is basically like the KKK.   They plug things like whites-only immigration and holocaust denial.  I mean, they’re really nasty… worse than what you’d expect from Limbaugh or O’Reilly when they’re on a real bender, you know?  In 2008, there was a big scandal here when someone leaked their membership list, revealing the identities of the people in the party.  People like police officers were suspended or let go for being affiliated with this hate group.

So, right now, I’m a bit confused.  They want me to vote for them, but how is it possible that a known hate group is on the ballot at all?  Do you think if I wrote them a polite letter asking for the names of the people running under their ticket that they’d answer me?  Am I missing something here?   Can someone actually run under the BNP ticket, despite people also being let go for being part of it?

My other (totally) random thought is about the people pictured in their literature.  Here is a photo of a handsome doctor, next to some text about how immigration is destroying the NHS.   Here is a soldier, next to some text about how he’s fed up with being ill-equipped in battle and wants the BNP to bring him home and protect him from Muslims when he gets there.

Given that it was scandalous for people to find out who is in the BNP last year, I highly doubt the images here are of actual members, but instead are most likely stock images.   I wonder what that model thought his photo would be used for when he put on the white coat and posed as a doctor.   I’m pretty sure he’d be slightly upset to learn his face is being used to sell hate door-to-door in Northwest England.
